What Does Art Mean To You?

My art comes from a desire to interact with the world with scientific curiosity through a compassionate lens. My work explores themes of transition and transformation, the body and the self, the cycles of life and death, and the tensions that arise at these intersections. I like giving attention to things that won’t last, documenting seemingly simple subjects' beauty upon closer inspection, and sharing how I see them with others. I'm inspired by romantic and impressionitic art movements and their dedication to biased emotional expression as a basis for abject reality. I'm enthralled by the romance of losing oneself in the process of creation, forgetting to eat, drink, and breathe, which is a bittersweet beauty. I hope that through my art I can influence others to take the time to slow down and notice the small, overlooked beauty of everyday life.
